CARE TO FIND LAUSD IN ATLANTA?

Corrupt Atlanta educators.jpg
In her article, Reporter Jenny Jarvie clearly lays out the administrative practice of using data as an "abusive and cruel weapon to coax employees into crossing ethical lines." And of course it never occurs to her or other reporters to look at LAUSD to see if the same clearly illegal practices are not going on there in the second largest school district in the country- too big to fail or be indicted?

LAUSD'S MATT HILL CONTINUES TO FAIL UPWARD AS BURBANK UNIFIED'S NEW SUPERINTENDENT DESIGNANT

Matt Hill.jpg
(Mensaje se repite en Español) In opposing the choice of LAUSD's Matt Hill as the new superintendent of the Burbank Unfied School District (BUSD), the Burbank Teacher's Union regrettably missed its strongest argument when it only faulted Mr. Hill for his not having ever been a teacher. While it has always been conventional wisdom that teaching experience is an absolute prerequisite for even being considered as a superintendent, the reality of that job shows that nothing could be further from the truth in handling the day to day running of what in the final analysis a more than 6 billion a year business. The superintendent as fiduciary of the district in reality should have a normal adversarial relationship to the vendors of goods and services whose exclusive interest is in maximizing profit, which is clearly antithetical to that of the district. It Is Hill's lack of business acumen, along with that same deficit in Cortines, Deasy, and other prior LAUSD superintendents that continues to see the district being constantly raked over the financial coals with iPad, student records, and other very expensive scandals attributable to a culture of institutionalized bad business practices.

TEACHER TENURE: L.A. TIMES "REPORTER" BLUME CONTINUES TO MANIPULATE HIS READERS

Howard Blum.jpg
(Mensaje se repite en Español) Los Angeles Times Reporter Howard Blume has had far too much access to the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and all the other players in public education for far to long to actually believe anything he reported in his 4/11/15 frontpage article entitled "Voters take a dim view of teacher tenure." What Blume and other "reporters" who want to keep their jobs have learned to do is omit relevant facts that they clearly know and consciously withhold from the people they interview in order to manipulate these sources into helping him- out of their ignorance- to write a story the conclusion of which Blume already had going in. Sadly, Howard Blume is not the only reporter who has degraded his profession in aid of corporate interests trying to further privatize government function.

IS A CHARTER SCHOOL AN EASY TARGET FOR PERSONAL MANIPULATION?

Palisades Charter High School.jpeg
Palisades Charter High School.jpeg "What I fear most is power with impunity. I fear abuse of power, and the power to abuse." Isabel Allende The story of Palisades Charter High School is a story of great expectations and great disillusionment. When twelve years ago it became fiscally independent due to the faculty determination to lead a new type of school, free of bureaucratic abuse, demagoguery and inefficiency, the founding teachers could never imagine that later the school would become a place where unfairness, fear, abuse and demagoguery thrive to such an extent that its period under LAUSD seems now ironically to be comparatively benign. Now it appears that Pali's school board and it's principal Dr. Magee have conspired against the values that inspired the founding ot this charter by completely removing teachers from any part of the decision-making process, while giving inconceivable salaries to school management that up to $200,000. Concurrently, this top-down absolutist regime targets and harasses any employees that dare to disagree or voice any objection.

"POOLING" WHAT WE KNOW TO TAKE A BITE OUT OF THE DROUGHT

Pool.jpg
(Mensaje se repite en Español) With all the talk about the worst drought in modern California history that has just precipitated- no pun intended- Governor Jerry Brown imposing a mandatory 25% cut in residential water consumption, there is one major consumer- and if you will- waster of precious water that has somehow gone unaddressed in the media and elsewhere- and that is swimming pools.
