"What I fear most is power with impunity.
I fear abuse of power, and the power to abuse."
Isabel Allende
The story of Palisades Charter High School is a story of great expectations and great disillusionment. When twelve years ago it became fiscally independent due to the faculty determination to lead a new type of school, free of bureaucratic abuse, demagoguery and inefficiency, the founding teachers could never imagine that later the school would become a place where unfairness, fear, abuse and demagoguery thrive to such an extent that its period under LAUSD seems now ironically to be comparatively benign.
Now it appears that Pali's school board and it's principal Dr. Magee have conspired against the values that inspired the founding ot this charter by completely removing teachers from any part of the decision-making process, while giving inconceivable salaries to school management that up to $200,000. Concurrently, this top-down absolutist regime targets and harasses any employees that dare to disagree or voice any objection.
